Harvesting Cherries

by Nick on June 21, 2010

My flatmate Freddie and I found 4 cherry trees on Kingsland Road just north of Hare Walk. Using a fruit picker we gathered a pot full of perfectly ripe cherries in about 20 minutes.

People walking by took an interest in what we were doing and we handed out lots of cherries. One guy said he’d been walking by there for years and never noticed there were cherry trees overhead.

Cherry picking is a delicate thing as they bruise very easily. Also the thought of transporting and storing cherries must be difficult to say the least – better to eat them straight away…
