Sunday 24th – Harvesting with The People’s Kitchen

by on July 20, 2011

Hackney Harvest and The People’s Kitchen are joining forces once again to harvest the wonderful plums of Haggerston Park on Sunday 24th July.

We’ll be meeting at Passing Clouds at 12:00 and heading down to Haggerston Park. If you’re a bit late then we’ll be harvesting from about 12:30 in the woodland near the Haggerston Edible Forest (beside the BMX track), where The London Orchard Project planted an orchard last winter and we’ll be joined by Hackney City Farm volunteers who look after the trees. We might then go on a little explore for blackberries around Hackney – we’ll see where the day takes us – and then head back to People’s Kitchen in the afternoon.

Come and join us on the day- we’ll bring the fruit to the People’s Kitchen to prepare together, or you’ll be welcome to take some home. We’ll also keep some of it to bring to community events across London that Hackney Harvest and The London Orchard Project are organising throughout the harvesting season to showcase London’s bounty.
